Introduction

Electrical conductivity of bases using simple circuit

    • Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) is a highly reactive and caustic substance. Handle the flakes and solution with extreme care and caution

    • Gloves are compulsory while handling NaOH

    • The ends of the copper wires might be sharp and delicate, be careful while handling them.

  1. Take an open circuit Take 1g of NaOH crytal in 50 ml water Take 2 ml of above solution in a bottle cap
    • Take an open circuit

    • Take 2 ml of above solution in a bottle cap

    • Insert free ends of the copper wire in the bottle cap

    • LED starts glowing which indicates Sodium hydroxide is a conductor

  2. Take an open circuit Take 3g of cao  powder in 20 ml water. Mix well and leave it for 10mins Take 2 ml of clear  solution from the top   into bottle cap
    • Take an open circuit

    • Take 3g of cao powder in 20 ml water. Mix well and leave it for 10mins

    • Take 2 ml of clear solution from the top into bottle cap

    • Insert free ends of the copper wire in the bottle cap

    • LED starts glowing which indicates calcium hydroxide is a conductor''

    • Test the conductivity for easily available basic food materials

    • Compare the intensity of LED light for different materials
