  1. Take a bottle and cut the top portion of it using a cutter such that 3/4th of it is openable. Do not cut open the bottle completely. Refer to the image alongside. From the bottom of the bottle measure 3-4 cm and mark that point.

  2. Using scissors, make a hole at the point you'd marked on the bottle. Take a 90cm long  PVC rubber pipe . Pierce holes on the PVC pipe at every 6 cm with the help of a pin/needle.

  3. Take a cardboard box and place a polythene sheet over it . Cover 3/4th of the box with soil, as shown in the image. Dig and sow seeds at random spots.

  4. Place waste sheet of papers beside the soil , as shown in the image. Insert one end of the PVC rubber pipe through the hole made in the bottle . Keep the bottle on the waste papers and close the other end of PVC rubber pipe with a stopper.

    • You may wrap insulation/packing tape around the stopper to ensure that no water leaks through it.

  5. Fill the bottle with water and make sure the pipe surrounds the soil. After one day, you will observe tiny blades of leaves sprouting. Day by day they grow.

  6. In case the soil gets over hydrated you can stop the flow of water by sealing the pipe at the reservoir end with a stopper. See the result.

    • The outer end of PVC rubber pipe should be tightly sealed.

    • The hole made at the bottom of the bottle should be able to fit the PVC pipe snugly.

    • Be careful while using the scissors, pins and paper cutter or any other sharp tool.
